The physician provides direct care to patients in accordance with established protocols, practices and standardized care guidelines. The Residency Program Director has responsibility, authority and accountability for administration and operations; teaching and scholarly activity; Resident recruitment and selection, evaluation, and promotion of residents, and disciplinary actions; supervision of residents; and resident education in the context of patient care. This role consists of a 7:3 ratio whereby 0.7 time is dedicated to staff Physician/Surgeon responsibilities and 0.3 time spent overseeing the Residency Program. Responsibilities
Perform appropriate physical exams and document appropriately and in a timely manner. Utilization and interpretation of appropriate diagnostic tests and provide appropriate referral or consultation. Provide patient education and counseling to promote wellness and address health risk behaviors. Provide agreed upon coverage to care for patients in the appropriate settings during business hours and evenings/weekends, as mutually agreed upon and per medical staff bylaws. Maintain and provide the clinical, technical and surgical skills to which they have been credentialed to perform. Use appropriate pharmacological dispensing aligned with patient age, conditions, allergies, interactions and duration of therapy to ensure quality of care. Maintain updated Delaware medical and CSR license and DEA license, including required CME and board certification. All other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibilities. Be a role model of professionalism; Design and conduct the program to meet community needs and institutional missions; Administer and maintain a learning environment aligned with ACGME competency domains; Have authority to approve or remove faculty and to designate core faculty, with an overseer process to evaluate candidates; Have authority to remove residents from interactions or environments not meeting program standards; Submit accurate information requested by DIO, GMEC and ACGME; Provide a learning environment for residents to raise concerns and provide feedback confidentially without fear; Ensure program compliance with policies on grievances, due process, employment and non-discrimination; residents must not be required to sign non-compete or restrictive covenants; Document verification of education for all residents within 30 days of completion or departure; Provide verification of an individual residence education upon request within 30 days; Provide applicants with information related to eligibility for relevant specialty board examinations. Education: Doctor of Medicine; Completed Residency. BC/BE per Bayhealth Medical Staff Bylaws. Credential(s): Physician MD or DO licensure; Physician – Controlled Substance Registration; DEA Diversion Control Division; must meet credentialing requirements per Bayhealth Medical Staff Services.
