Overview

Optometrist role at Kaiser Permanente. Provides visual examinations, including detection of pathology, and differential diagnosis of abnormal visual, ocular and/or systemic conditions. Delivers comprehensive, high quality optometric/vision care to members. Responsibilities

Uphold Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws. Provide treatment of the visual system within the scope of optometric licensure, including writing prescriptions for ophthalmic spectacles, contact lenses, orthoptics and non-optical aids. Perform additional specialized testing and therapy such as contact lens examinations, visual fields (perimetry), tonometry, orthoptics (therapy for amblyopia, suppression, diplopia, extraocular muscle problems and related conditions), low vision evaluation, fluorescein angiography and ocular photography under the direction of Ophthalmology. Maintain compliance with current organizational, state and federal regulations pertaining to Optometry. Coordinate with Coordinating Optometrists to ensure member satisfaction and promote financial viability of the Permanente Vision Services Program. Collaborate with other Vision Services areas including Optical Lab and Optical Dispensing. Promote member satisfaction by delivering a high level of service and care. Establish and maintain courteous and cooperative relations with the public, patients and staff. May perform other duties as required. Qualifications

Education: Graduate of a school or college of Optometry accredited by the California State Board of Optometry. License/Certification: Optometrist License (California); National Provider Identifier. Experience & Skills

Ability to demonstrate knowledge of optometric theory and practice, including anatomy, physiology, pathology and mechanics of the eye, ocular pharmacology and therapeutics. Willingness to work evenings and Saturdays. May rotate to other MOBs within the Medical Center Service Area. Demonstrates commitment to superior and culturally sensitive service to members and colleagues. Additional Requirements

Must be willing to work in all Optometry locations in SBC and participate in Saturday rotation. Preferred Qualifications
