Oversees and maintains competency testing in the Microbiology Division. Oversees studies, method validation and special projects in the Microbiology Division. Collaborates and coordinates effectively with the various divisions of the Laboratory and its clients at all locations; ensures that all job duties are performed safely , efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory agencies, and in a manner that denotes the team concept and reflects the UCSF and ZSFG mission, vision and values. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $68.80 - $85.72 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description
The UCSF Clinical Laboratory (CL) at Zuckerberg San Francisco General (ZSFG) provides laboratory testing services for inpatients and outpatients of ZSFG, Laguna Honda Hospital, District Health Centers and other facilities under the auspices of the San Francisco Public Health Department.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate scientific field and minimum 2 years recent (within the last 2 years) experience as a licensed Clinical Lab Scientist with recent experience in clinical microbiology or an equivalent combination of education and experience Possession of a California Clinical Laboratory License or a similar license of equal or higher level issued by the State Department of Health Able to work independently, under pressure; recognize and resolve problems while maintaining a high level of organization Effective verbal and written communication skills relative to clinical results Extensive knowledge of bacteriology and culture work up practices in a clinical microbiology laboratory Experience with a clinical laboratory computer system Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
Preferred Qualifications
Proficient in a database program such as Microsoft Access Proficient in Word and Excel Proficient in using Epic and Beaker systems
License/Certification
California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License or a similar license of equal or higher level issued by the State Department of Health
