Position Overview:
APPs at Genesis Orthopedics & Sports Medicine are responsible for delivering comprehensive medical care as delegated by our team of orthopedic physicians. In this dynamic role, you will have the opportunity to run independent clinics, assist physicians both in the office and hospital settings, treat a wide variety of orthopedic conditions, support surgical procedures, and conduct emergency room and hospital consultations as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Evaluation & Diagnosis:
Perform comprehensive and focused histories and physical examinations.
Interpret diagnostic and laboratory tests to aid in diagnosis.
Synthesize subjective and objective data to develop differential diagnoses and establish working diagnoses.
Treatment & Care Planning:
Formulate and implement treatment plans for orthopedic conditions within your scope of practice.
Apply therapeutic interventions when appropriate and exercise clinical judgment for conditions requiring consultation or referral to the supervising orthopedic surgeon or other healthcare professionals.
Procedural Skills & Surgery Assistance:
Order, collect, and perform diagnostic studies, including routine lab tests, EMG, ECG, radiology studies (e.g., MRI, CT, ultrasound, bone scans).
Perform minor outpatient procedures, such as tendon repair, wound management, incision and drainage, needle biopsy, and percutaneous pinning of fractures.
Provide first assist in the operating room, participate in deep and superficial wound closure, and assist with internal device application as directed by the orthopedic surgeon.
Orthopedic Procedures & Interventions:
Perform diagnostic and therapeutic injections for joints, bursae, and cysts, as well as aspirations.
Conduct closed reductions of fractures and dislocations.
Apply orthopedic appliances such as casts, braces, and splints.
Hospital & Emergency Care:
Conduct hospital rounds and provide care to hospitalized patients.
Write orders, take call, and manage orthopedic consults in the emergency department.
Develop and implement treatment plans for inpatients.

Requirements:
Experience: A minimum of [X] years of experience as an Orthopedic APP is required. Previous orthopedic experience (e.g., medical scribe, medical assistant) will be considered. A strong interest in orthopedics and surgery is essential.
Location & Hours: We are hiring for multiple locations and offer flexibility with full-time and part-time hours. Available locations include Oak Brook, Oak Park, Little Village, and Austin (Chicago), IL.
