Your Mission in Action
The Family Services Training Specialist is responsible for the implementation and delivery of educational resources and training for foster care, adoptive and kinship applicants, licensed caregivers, and staff in accordance to Agency and licensing standards and federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
Conduct pre-certification foster care and adoption training for potential foster care and adoptive parents and families for the purpose of parent and family preparedness
Research and identify training, community resources, and referral services based on collected data and information, industry trends, and informal and formal feedback from foster care and adoption parents and families
Identify, develop, and facilitate appropriate training programs, including the selection and design of training aids and resources
Data entry of training to electronic case management record
Maintain training plan (calendar) for new hire and annual staff training to meet licensing requirements
Maintain records and documentation of training and educational activities
Facilitate evening and weekend training for staff and caregivers, ensuring availability and needs of agency
Collaborate with the Family Services team and community partners to ensure all prospective and foster care and adoptive parents and families are receiving quality training and educational activities to ensure foster care children, parents, and families are prepared for foster care placement and/or adoption
Develop and maintain positive strong working relationships with the Family Services team, community partners,
and service providers to ensure training needs and resources are available and meet the needs of the program, the foster care and adoptive children, their parents, and families
Work as team player and exhibit professional behavior and a positive attitude with both internal and external clients that reflect positivelty on the Agency and is consistent with Agency policies and practices
Actively participate in exhibiting cultural awareness and sensitivity when interacting with children, parent(s)/guardian(s), staff and the community
Other duties and projects as assigned
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or closely related field
Prior experience in public speaking and/or presenting to adult population
Knowledge and ability to design and deliver trainings to adult learners
Ability to establish rapport, trust, and ethical boundaries with staff, foster care and adoptive children, parents, and families
Strong people and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with diverse groups of people
Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and prioritize competing requests/tasks
The ability to follow instructions and work independently and with limited supervision
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Ability to apply sound judgment when making decisions
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Zoom and GoTo Training platform
Preferred Qualifications
One (1) year relevant experience; experience working with foster care, adoption, or child welfare service populations
Bilingual (Spanish) proficiency (required for certain areas based on populations serve)
Travel
This position may be required to travel up to 10%
