Position Summary:
Performs custodial work and light maintenance for the Lakes Division of the Recreation Services Department.
Schedule: Sunday through Thursday; 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Essential Duties:
Opens building and disarms security systems.
Performs general custodial and maintenance of buildings and facilities to ensure facilities are operating in a safe and orderly manner.
Cleans all areas floor to ceiling
Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes, and buffs bare floors and baseboards; vacuums and cleans carpeted floors.
Washes windows, walls, and mirrors.
Cleans and disinfects restrooms and replenishes supplies.
Dusts and cleans light fixtures, chairs, and offices.
Empties trash.
Performs minor light maintenance such as changing light bulbs, changing filters, checking floodlights, painting, and minor repairs.
Checks in and stocks supplies; checks reorders.
Moves furniture and equipment.
Clears snow from building walkways in winter and treats with deicer as needed to ensure safe walkways.
Handles or notifies supervisor of potential trip , fire, and other possible hazards in assigned area(s).
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or GED. Prefer some custodial experience including some familiarity with MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) although not required; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and volunteers.
Ability to solve problems.
Ability to work alone in an empty building.
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Ability to be self-directed to meet established routine deadlines.
Ability to be self-motivated.
Ability to speak, read, and write English.
Physical Demands And Working Conditions:
Work is performed indoors with some work outside in potentially adverse weather conditions.
Safely performs physically demanding duties including repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and stretching for long periods of time.
Safely lifts, pushes, pulls, and carries between 50 - 75 pounds up and down stairs without assistance on a regular basis.
Requires working shifts including evening or night shifts and may require traveling unescorted between various City buildings during shifts.
Work is performed in a safe and secure work environment that may periodically have unpredicted requirements or demands.
Successful candidate will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include:
