Organist Position
Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church in the beautiful city of Casper, WY seeks a dedicated Organist to enrich our worship with skilled traditional accompaniment and thoughtful repertoire. Reporting to the Pastor and partnering with the Choral Director and Worship Committee, this part-time Organist role (approximately 10 hrs/week) supports Sunday worship, choir rehearsals, and special liturgical services. Key Responsibilities: Provide service music (prelude, postlude, offertory, hymns, communion) and accompany choir/musicians for 48 Sundays---including Palm Sunday, Easter, Hanging of the Greens, and Christmas---and special services (Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Thanksgiving, weddings, funerals). Accompany weekly choir rehearsals (September--May) and Sunday warm-up. Coordinate hymn and anthem selection, tempos, and rehearsal schedules with the Pastor and Choral Director. Arrange substitute organists, oversee organ/piano tuning and repairs, and manage summer guest-musician rehearsals. Maintain the organ music library, submit an annual music budget, and participate in one yearly performance review. Qualifications: Personal commitment to the Christian faith. Proven experience accompanying soloists, choirs, or congregations. Proficiency on piano and eagerness to develop organ skills. Familiarity with liturgical repertoire and diverse musical styles. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate with clergy, musical staff, and volunteers. Compensation & Benefits: Competitive stipend (commensurate with experience).
