Federal Technical Project Manager

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented entry-level technical project manager to support ongoing operations, maintenance, and enhancement of health information exchange (HIE) systems. This role is ideal for early-career professionals with an interest in healthcare IT, system interoperability, and project coordination. You will work closely with technical teams, support staff, healthcare partners, and vendors to ensure the reliable performance of HIE platforms while assisting with small-scale projects, system updates, issue tracking, and coordination of support activities. You will join a hard-working, knowledgeable team dedicated to shaping the EHR experience for service members, veterans, American Indians, and Alaska Natives. Responsibilities
Support the day-to-day operations of HIE systems, including system monitoring, issue triage, and tracking resolution. Coordinate maintenance schedules, patching cycles, and system updates with technical and vendor teams. Serve as a liaison between technical teams and healthcare stakeholders to address and meet support needs. Track open support tickets and assist with prioritization, escalation, and communication of status updates. Document system changes, support workflows, troubleshooting procedures, and lessons learned. Assist with change control processes, ensuring compliance with data privacy and security policies (e.g., HIPAA). Participate in small-scale enhancement projects, including planning, requirements gathering, and testing coordination. Support reporting and analytics efforts related to system performance and incident trends. Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in health informatics, information systems, public health, computer science, or a related field. Strong interest in healthcare IT, system integration, or technical project coordination. Basic understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall). Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a support-focused environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira) is a plus. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Self-starter capable of independently handling tasks and projects. Clearance eligibility (e.g., Public Trust, Secret). Preferred Qualifications
Internship or academic experience related to health IT, system support, or project coordination. Familiarity with HIE concepts, EHR systems, or health data standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR) is a plus. Working knowledge of ITIL or support operations frameworks. Interest in pursuing a project management certification (e.g., CAPM, PMP, PMI-ACP). Conflict resolutionnavigating competing priorities between IT and clinical teams. Risk & issue managementidentifying, tracking, and mitigating project risks. Data integration & interfacesworking with interface engines (e.g., Cloverleaf, Rhapsody, Mirth). Expectations
Must reside in or around the Arlington, VA area. Perform additional duties, as assigned. Willing to travel up to 25% as needed. Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed and allowed by local regulations. Work in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures, understand personal role in safeguarding corporate and client assets, and take appropriate action to prevent and report any compromises of security within scope of position. U.S. citizenship required due to client contracts. Must be able to obtain the appropriate government security clearance card applicable to your position.
