Data Analyst

Select Sales, Inc., a manufacturer's representative agency based in Downers Grove, IL, is seeking a data analyst to support our management and sales teams. This position encompasses data analysis and automation, Python development, AI-assisted workflows, item content management in customer portals, marketing materials preparation, trade show support, and other functions. Training will be provided.

Key Competencies:

·       Solid general computer knowledge with capability to learn intermediate to advanced skills

·       Proficiency or willingness to learn Python programming for data analysis and automation

·       Comfort leveraging AI tools to enhance productivity and problem-solving

·       Willingness to learn new things daily and wear different hats in a small company atmosphere

Compensation:

·       $55,000 - $65,000 base salary

·       401K plan with company match

·       Health insurance

Job Requirements:

·       College degree and/or professional Data/IT experience

·       Typical workday is 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday

Skills Summary:

Must have knowledge of or be able to learn (in order of importance):

·       Python programming for data analysis, automation, and scripting

·       Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills including Power Query, Macros, etc.

·       Experience with or ability to learn AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, etc.) for coding assistance and data analysis

·       Web-based application builder Quickbase for our Order Entry system

·       Microsoft Access or other Relational Databases such as SQL

·       Google App Sheet to create simple apps primarily used by our field sales team

·       Critical thinking ability to produce insights from numbers and data

Preferred knowledge of/ability to learn:

·       Python libraries for data analysis (pandas, numpy, etc.) and visualization (matplotlib, seaborn, plotly)

·       Microsoft 365 applications such as Power BI, Power Automate, etc.

·       Web scraper/crawler applications (Python-based tools like BeautifulSoup, Selenium)

·       API integration and data pipeline development

Bonus knowledge of/ability to learn:

·       Data Science tools such as R, SPSS, or statistical packages

·       Machine learning fundamentals

·       Version control systems (Git)

·       Hardware industry basics (information about our products or hardware co-op chains such as Ace, True Value, or Do It Best)

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

·       Develop Python scripts and tools to automate data processing and analysis workflows

·       Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques, and provide ongoing reports

·       Leverage AI tools to accelerate development, troubleshoot code, and enhance analytical capabilities

·       Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, and data analytics strategies that optimize efficiency and quality

·       Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems

·       Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in data sets

·       Work with management to prioritize business and information needs

·       Locate and define new process improvement opportunities
