2026 Process Engineering Internship - Hot Working Focus

Process Engineering Intern focused on Hot Working , you'll support the forging, rolling, and forming of titanium, nickel, and specialty alloys-playing a direct role in how high-value materials are shaped into high-performance products.
You'll collaborate with experienced engineers and operators to improve throughput, reduce defects, and drive process efficiency on assets such as
open die presses, radial forges, and rolling mills .
What You'll Work On
Internship projects may include:
Analyzing
process data
(force, temperature, time, hammer settings) to identify yield improvement opportunities.
Supporting trials to optimize
reduction sequences ,
strain rates , or
bar profiles
for specific alloy grades.
Assisting in
root cause analysis
of cracking, grain flow anomalies, or mechanical property deviations.
Evaluating and improving
standard work procedures , including material handling and reheating practices.
Participating in forging/rolling trials for
new products or flow path qualifications .
Preferred Qualifications
B.S. candidate in:
Materials Science & Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Metallurgical Engineering
Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering
GPA of
3.0+
(preferred)
Strong interest in
thermo-mechanical processing
of metals
Familiarity with:
Excel, Python, or Minitab/JMP
for data analysis
Stress-strain behavior ,
microstructure-property relationships , and
process modeling
Ability to work in
plant and shop-floor environments
