Overview

Department: Cardiovascular Unit. Shift Timings: 18:45-07:15, 3 days 12 hour shift (Monday- Friday). Per week: 36 hours. Unit capacity: 36 beds. Population served: Cardiac and Neuro Stepdown (Cardiac bedside monitoring, Cardiac drips, TR bands, Post heart caths, Stroke/Neuro patients, BIPAP overflow). Ages of patients served: Young Adult through Late Adult (18 - 60+). Nurse to patient ratio: 1:6. Core staffing plan: Variable staffing grid to include Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), Nurse Interns (NIs). An RN assumes full responsibility for the patients on each team.

• Staffing Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Certification National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Successful completion of a proctored rhythm test

Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient\'s discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
