Job Summary and Qualifications

In collaboration with the patient, the patient’s family, and other members of the health care team, the Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, evaluating, planning, implementing, and coordinating a treatment plan and achieving the goals of the nursing department. This role serves as a key member of the interdependent team and is responsible for positive patient and departmental outcomes.

What you will do in this role

• Maintain overall accountability and responsibility for assigned patients
• Manage efficient flow of patient care including screening, preparation for exams, general nursing care, comfort, admissions, testing and discharges
• Maintain and review patients’ records including posting tests and examination results
• Administer medications in accordance with physician orders
• Instruct patients and families regarding medications and treatment plans
• Respond to and refer incoming telephone calls (may include phone triage when needed)

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing; Associate degree in Nursing or higher required
• Current RN license in the practicing state and/or active Compact/Multi-State RN license
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers
