JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for reviewing daily patient schedule at least 24-hours prior to appointment and performing the tasks required to ensure accurate insurance and co-payment information is on file for scheduled services.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Review daily appointment schedules prior to the appointment to verify insurance eligibility, 7 days out on Phreesia.

Review eligibility reports daily and verifying copay amounts are correct in appropriate systems.

Contact patients to obtain insurance coverage information if unable to verify insurance eligibility and maintain current insurance information in appropriate systems. Contact patient two days prior if new insurance is needed. Chart appropriately in Phreesia.

If new insurance is not received within two days of the appointment, contact the patients to obtain the necessary information.

Contact payers to determine our participation status with their plans when appropriate.

Serve as a resource during the patient check-in process regarding insurance and eligibility questions.

Improve patient experience by being inquisitive, responsive, innovative, and flexible.

Other duties as assigned relating to the revenue cycle management process.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Knowledge of healthcare registration procedures and insurance claims processing.

Knowledge of HIPAA and privacy rules.

Skill in using a computer and a variety of software, including Electronics Health Records (EHR) software, scheduling software, Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.

Skill in communicating in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing.

Skill in managing multiple priorities and delegating as needed.

Ability to be a good representative of the Company.

Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive issues, patient care, privacy, and confidentiality.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or GED required. Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with Pre-Registration and/or medical reception, clinical setting preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT: • This role operates in a healthcare setting. This position requires frequent sitting and computer work and allows employee to vary physical position or activity for comfort.

• Must be able to:

Stand 5% or longer of an 8-hour workday.

Walk 10% of an 8-hour workday.

Sit 85% of an 8-hour workday. • Requires employee to: Bend, squat, kneel and reach above shoulder level occasionally. • Requires repetitive use of hands for: Simple grasping, fine manipulation, computer use • Requires all sensory skills (speech, vision, smell, touch, and hearing) corrected to near normal range.
