Job Summary

Responsible for operating commercial vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating over 26,001 lbs. to deliver or pick up merchandise, materials, and equipment to assigned destination and/or customer locations in a timely fashion. Responsible for regularly driving and performing other safety-affecting activities on motor vehicles (over 10,000 lbs.) used in long-range (over-the-road) transportation on public highways in interstate or foreign commerce. Follows appropriate safety procedures for transporting goods including securement of cargo for transport. (May include the use of tarps) Safely maneuvers trucks into loading or unloading positions. Assists customer to identify materials for unloading. Performs daily vehicle inspections (as defined by the FMCSA) to ensure that the trucks are road-worthy, and that safety and emergency equipment is in good working order. Records any inspection information or list of defects on the Daily Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) as required by the FMCSA. Uses an electronic logging device (ELD) to log daily activities as required by the FMCSA. Reports incidents, including traffic accidents and violations, or vehicle damage, to Supervisor. Reads bill of lading and manifests to determine assignment details. Checks all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate and obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods or collects payment for services when required. Responsible for adhering to safety processes and protocols. All other duties and responsibilities assigned by management. Wears all required personal protective equipment per annual hazard assessment. Physical Requirements

Medium/Heavy work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Job Function

Safe operation of tractor pulling flatbed trailer as well as a straight truck with cargo deck. When necessary, perform piece counts and dimensional measurements to verify quantity and material description on work copy. This is done through counting and/or the proper use of tape measures and yard scales. Drivers must be able to use steps and hand grabs to enter and exit a truck cab while keeping three points of contact. When necessary, and only after event-specific approval from Dispatcher or Siskin management is received, access the trailer deck using a Siskin-approved ladder. Note - accessing the trailer deck is considered a non-standard task. Must be able to routinely lift fifty pounds. Possess the ability to frequently stand and bend. Must secure all loads with chains or straps according to DOT regulations Required Skills

Standing, bending, stooping and squatting. Sitting down to drive tractor trailer in warehouse and on company property. Walking on uneven surface while removing securement devices and while trailer is being loaded or unloaded. Use steps and hand grabs to enter and exit the truck cab while keeping three points of contact and, when necessary, accessing the trailer deck using a Siskin-approved ladder. Lifting up to fifty pounds.
