Job Title: Cardiovascular Technologist, Cath Lab Technologist Profession: Diagnostic Imaging Specialty: Cardiovascular Technologist, Cath Lab Technologist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 10 hour day shift Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Current BLS, current ACLS Certifications: Preferred - Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) credential through Cardiovascular Credentialing International Must-Have: - Perform duties for diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization and other Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Electrophysiology procedures in a professional manner with minimal supervision. - Assist in patient care in pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure environments under the direction of supervising physician and department management. - Function in the role of scrub/assistant in the sterile field, control room monitoring, or monitor patients in pre/post-procedure environments. - Prepare vascular access sites for procedures, place peripheral intravenous access, obtain patient vital signs, and set up hemodynamic monitoring equipment. - Monitor patients receiving moderate sedation and operate hemodynamic monitoring equipment. - Collect and analyze arterial and venous blood samples. - Operate equipment within the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and obtain arterial hemostasis following procedures. - Function as the second circulator in the procedure room. - Be involved in procedures performed in Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory including diagnostic and interventional coronary artery catheterization and diagnostic heart catheterization. - Engage in procedures in the Electrophysiology Suite including permanent pacemaker implantation and vascular access device placement. - Adhere to Standard Precautions and assess equipment for proper function prior to use. - Document defective devices, remove them from service, and report malfunctions promptly. - Participate in maintaining adequate inventory of supplies and equipment. - Perform routine maintenance of radiological equipment and monitor radiation safety. - Educate patients and co-workers, and positively promote services of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. - Promote cardiovascular health and wellness.
