Material Handler II
About the Role:
As a Material Handler II, you will play a crucial role in the efficient and safe movement of materials within the organization's warehouse or distribution center. You will be responsible for handling, storing, and organizing various types of goods, ensuring timely delivery and accurate inventory management. The Material Handler II position requires a keen attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Receive incoming shipments of materials, verifying contents against packing slips or purchase orders, and inspecting for damage or discrepancies. Unload delivery trucks, transport materials to designated storage areas using forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks, and securely stack items to maximize storage space. Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment, following established procedures and safety guidelines to ensure accurate and timely delivery to customers or production lines. Assist in inventory control activities, including cycle counting, stock rotation, and maintaining accurate records of inventory levels, locations, and movements using inventory management software or manual tracking systems. Perform quality checks on incoming and outgoing materials, identifying and reporting any issues or discrepancies to supervisors or quality control personnel. Collaborate with warehouse team members to coordinate daily activities, prioritize tasks, and optimize workflow to meet production schedules and customer requirements. Maintain cleanliness and organization of warehouse facilities, including aisles, storage racks, and work areas, to ensure a safe and efficient working environment. Comply with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations, including proper handling of hazardous materials, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and emergency response protocols. Operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently, following manufacturer guidelines and completing required training and certification programs. Assist in the training and mentoring of new or less experienced material handlers, sharing knowledge and best practices to promote skill development and teamwork. Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent qualification required; associate degree or vocational training in logistics, warehousing, or a related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a warehouse, distribution center, or manufacturing environment, with demonstrated proficiency in material handling, inventory control, and shipping/receiving procedures. Valid forklift operator certification and experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and effectively. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds, stand or walk for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks in a physically demanding environment. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills, with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions, complete paperwork accurately, and maintain neat and orderly work areas. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and interact professionally with supervisors, coworkers, and external vendors. Knowledge of warehouse safety practices, OSHA regulations, and basic first aid procedures, with a commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment for all employees.
