Job Title: Cardiac Cath Specialist Profession: Clinical-Allied Specialty: Cardiac Catheterization Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 40.00 Experience: Minimum years of experience not specified License: One of the following is required: - Certified in Clienttion Therapy through ARRT - Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification through CCI Certifications: One of the following is required: - Graduation from a Radiologic Science program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health and Accreditation - Graduation from a special procedures program - Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing - Completion of a course in cardiac catheterization Must-Have: Transcripts required Description: Assists physicians with obtaining digital radiographic images of the heart and peripheral vessels. Appropriately controls radiographic equipment to acquire quality images. Pans the radiographic table for physician visualization of desired structures. Sets x-ray acquisition parameters for cardiac and peripheral imaging. Practices radiation safety utilizing distance and appropriate protective attire. Demonstrates knowledge of various procedures and techniques to meet comprehensive patient needs. Anticipates patient and physician needs, alerting the physician to changes in patient condition. Contributes to patient care plans in an organized and timely manner. Demonstrates expert knowledge in technical areas of hemodynamics, diagnostic and interventional procedures. Prepares procedure rooms and equipment for daily use and each procedure. Conducts daily quality checks and notifies the appropriate personnel of variances. Ensures stock on hand meets routine daily case volumes. Performs in-room inventory and supply management according to regulations. Documents data necessary for patient records and charge entry. Retrieves stored information from various systems and verifies data accuracy. Documents complications and variances for continuous quality improvement. Delivers pre-, during, and post-procedure patient care. Initiates accurate documentation and data entry. Prepares scrub tables and preps patients for procedures while maintaining sterile techniques. Prepares lines and devices for intravenous administration of fluids. Injects drugs under direct physician supervision and performs IV insertions. Operates, inspects, troubleshoots, and performs routine maintenance on cardiac catheterization lab equipment. Effectively operates all devices utilized in cardiac catheter procedures. Initiates maintenance or service on damaged or malfunctioning equipment. May perform lead worker responsibilities such as staff training and education. Operates and maintains patient information with an organized and timely approach. Prioritizes tasks to ensure efficient patient care. Ensures quality and accuracy of reported laboratory data.
