Material Handler
in our Fiber/Filtration Department, at our Richmond Plant location (2400 Richmond Highway, Richmond VA 23234). Material Handlers are responsible for the efficient movement, safe transportation, storage, and tracking of materials and finished product within our facility. Furthermore, this position will utilize measuring tools, basic math and compute, complete paperwork, and conduct quality checks. Material Handlers are expected to communicate to department Supervisor, lead, and production personnel.
This position is Monday through Friday, 1st Shift (6:00am to 2:30pm). Additionally, in order to meet production needs, all employees in our manufacturing industry are expected to work more than 8-hour shifts and on weekends (if needed).
Essential Functions
Operate powered industrial forklifts to pick up, move, or unload material in support of Fiber operations, as necessary, from production area and the loading docks. Pull raw/finished materials from inventory/stock and load to bale opener machines. Properly label all Fiber finished material for future use. Follow the Fiber Department layout plan for proper storage locations. Able to read and completely understand the labeling process. Conduct quality checks on all material during all phases of the production ensure all products meet specifications. Ensure downtime is kept at a minimum. Record pertinent data in the SAP computer system. Perform and maintain a neat, orderly, and safe work environment. Follows daily production schedule to insure optimum efficiency Assists with preventive maintenance Must successfully be forklift certified Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required. Must have prior experience in manufacturing, chemical, or production environment. Must have basic reading, writing, and math skills. Other Required Skills and Abilities
