Position Summary

This involves the diagnosis, treatment and disposition of assigned patients including such activities as psychiatric assessment, consultation with other medical and professional staff, prescribing medications and treatment along with documentation of treatment plans and progress achieved. This is distinguished from the work of other medical physicians in that it deals with the study, treatment, and prevention of mental illness. These clinical and consultative functions also include ordering/interpreting laboratory work, diagnostic tests, and nursing measures. Psychiatric consultation includes Integrated Biobehavioral Reviews on a quarterly basis on long-term care units and admission/discharge functions for individuals admitted to the Short Term Assessment Program.

The starting salary is up to $144.87 per hour, depending on qualifications, plus up to an additional $23.00 per hour add-on for a board certification in psychiatry. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 10/52.
