Meter Technician Apprentice - Laborer:
This is an entry level position designed to introduce an individual to utility metering. Within the first year, the employee will be expected to perform the following:
Enroll in the accredited DOL Meter Technician Certification Program selected by Lebanon Utilities. Reads kilowatt-hour and water meters in accordance with daily schedules and records consumption. Reads and resets indicating demand meters. Reseals meters and meter boxes. Executes electric and water service connects and disconnects as directed. Reports broken meter seals and signs of service theft to the Metering Supervisor. Reports aged or damaged service lines and broken or damaged meters to the Metering Supervisor. Reports customer inquiries, requests and complaints to the Metering Supervisor. Assists with meter change-outs, meter installation and removal as directed. Assists with testing of single and poly phase electric meters and all types of water meters as directed. Follows all Safety protocols. Meter Technician Apprentice 1-4:

Successfully step through the accredited DOL Meter Technician Certification Program selected by Lebanon Utilities. Demonstrate continuous learning and development as he/she progress through the accredited DOL Meter Technician Certification Program. Reads kilowatt-hour and water meters in accordance with daily schedules and records consumption. Reads and resets indicating demand meters. Reseals meters and meter boxes. Executes electric and water service connects and disconnects as directed. Reports broken meter seals and signs of service theft to the Metering Supervisor. Reports aged or damaged service lines and broken or damaged meters to the Metering Supervisor. Reports customer inquiries, requests and complaints to the Metering Supervisor. Performs meter change-outs, meter installation and removal as directed. Performs testing of single and poly phase electric meters and all types of water meters as directed. Follows all Safety protocols. Familiar with AMR and AMI Systems. Answers questions for other departments, customers, and management concerning electric and water metering issues. Ability to calculate residential, and commercial water, sewer and electric bills to confirm accuracy of metering equipment. Treats all others in a kind and courteous manner. Follows all Safety protocols. Qualifications :
High school education or equivalent required. Ability to accurately perform basic mathematical computations. Strong written and verbal communication skills necessary in order to deal with a wide range of personalities both inside and outside the organization. Strong verbal communication skills necessary in order to deal with a wide range of personalities both inside and outside the organization. Ability to make informed immediate decisions in emergency or highly stressful situations. A valid Indiana driver's license required. First aid and CPR certifications required.
