Terms of Employment: The contract length will be 178 days.
Evaluation: Based on local district policy and Arkansas Department of Education guidelines, and performed by the food service manager who is assisted by the food service supervisor in regard to evaluations.
Job Goal: The Food Service Worker will endeavor to work cooperatively in maintaining the food service program at the school level in an efficient and effective manner to meet the nutritional needs and program acceptability of students and staff in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Performance Responsibilities:
Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures. Follows all state and federal regulations. Responsible for the performance of duties assigned by the manager, including but not limited to: working in extreme temperatures; standing for extended periods of time; lifting fifty pounds without assistance; and operating commercial food service equipment, such as convection ovens, fryers, mixers, braising pans, steamers, food processors and dish machines. Responsible for any cleaning duties of kitchen, serving areas, and equipment as assigned by the manager, including but not limited to working with various household and industrial chemicals such as chlorine bleach, grease cutter, and/or oven cleaners. Responsible for preparing food items and determining appropriate quantity of food items needed; adjusts and extends recipes as needed; maintains food quality standards, including appearance and nutritional requirements. Responsible for preparing and serving food in accordance with health and sanitation standards and continuously monitoring temperatures of food to assure safety and quality standards are met. Responsible for storing unused food and supplies, disposing of leftovers, and utilizing proper methods of handling foods to be stored. Records amounts of foods cooked and foods leftover and any money collected, as assigned; assists with inventory and maintains routine records, as directed. Collects money and maintains accurate records, as assigned. Cooperates in all activities necessary for the best functioning of the school food service program. Observes safety rules and reports any accidents according to District policy. Takes proper care of equipment and facilities. Practices desirable health and work habits, and maintains acceptable standards of work, conduct, and dress code. Maintains an attitude of helpfulness toward fellow employees, students, and staff. Cooperates fully with faculty, students, manager, and other employees. Participates in inservice training programs as provided by the District and/or State. Other duties, as assigned.
