About the Role We are seeking an Infrastructure Accounting professional to join our Accounting team at Anthropic. In this role, you will design, implement and oversee the financial accounting and reporting for all costs and accounting matters related to cloud infrastructure and infrastructure assets. As we continue to scale, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial reporting while working cross-functionally to drive process improvements and provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making. This role will report to the Head of Infrastructure Accounting. Responsibilities
Own end-to-end financial accounting and reporting for compute and infrastructure costs, ensuring accurate classification and allocation between Cost of Revenue and OpEx for hosting costs
Partner with technical accounting teams to assess infrastructure expenditures for proper classification as capital expenditures or capital leases under ASC 842, ensuring compliance with financial reporting requirements
Manage accounting for infrastructure assets, including depreciation schedules, impairment assessments, and asset lifecycle tracking
Ensure timely month-end and quarter-end accounting for all infrastructure-related transactions
Drive improvements in data quality by working cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to solve problems with big data and complex cost allocation methodologies
Partner closely with Finance & Strategy and Capital Infrastructure teams to drive analysis and build financial models that inform decisions around compute capacity planning, efficiency initiatives, and cost optimization
Build scalable processes and automated solutions to support rapid growth while maintaining strong controls and data integrity
Collaborate with engineering and infrastructure teams to understand technical requirements and translate them into financial implications
Develop scalable operational processes to execute complex accounting classifications efficiently in a high-growth environment
Analyze large infrastructure cost datasets to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for process improvement
Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors for compute, infrastructure costs, and related capital assets
Assist in the preparation of financial reports, supporting schedules, and management presentations related to infrastructure investments
You May Be a Good Fit If You
Have 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with operational experience in technology companies and infrastructure asset management
Hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or equivalent preferred
Have extensive experience with complex infrastructure subject matter, capital lease accounting under ASC 842, and infrastructure asset accounting
Demonstrate expertise in analyzing and solving problems with big data, including large compute cost datasets
Have experience working in a fast-paced startup environment with the builder mindset to turn messy or ambiguous workflows into streamlined processes
Exhibit strong organizational and analytical abilities with exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Are proficient in financial systems, data visualization tools, and database querying technologies
Have the ability to translate technical concepts into financial implications and accounting requirements
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams
Show experience partnering with Finance & Strategy teams and infrastructure/capital planning functions

Have SQL skills for querying, analyzing, and reporting on large infrastructure cost datasets
Possess deep understanding of technical accounting concepts including ASC 842 lease accounting, asset capitalization, and depreciation methodologies
Be comfortable with handling ambiguity and working with minimal supervision in complex technical environments
Show genuine curiosity about technology, artificial intelligence, and cloud infrastructure
Have experience with cloud computing cost structures and infrastructure asset optimization
Demonstrated proficiency with AI-assisted tools and automation for enhancing data analysis and optimizing financial reporting workflows
Excel at cross-functional collaboration, particularly with technical teams and strategic finance functions
Display a passion for continuous learning, process improvement, and solving complex accounting challenges with innovative solutions
Have experience with consumption-based business models and their associated accounting complexities
Compensation and Logistics
The expected base compensation for this position is below. Our total compensation package for full-time employees includes equity, benefits, and may include incentive compensation.
Annual Salary: $190,000 - $230,000 USD
Education requirements: We require at least a Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.
Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas. If we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.
