Amazon Robotics - Sensor Embedded Software Co-op - Spring 2026

We are seeking a talented and motivated Embedded Software Co-op to research and develop next generation sensor and compute technology in robotics. We are a cross-disciplinary team aiming to enable broad use cases of sensor technology in Amazon Fulfillment network. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong interest in embedded systems and sensors.

Amazon Robotics develops state-of-the art robotics for Amazon’s Fulfillment Centers. We are combining computer vision and custom robots to solve real-world problems at huge scale. Our team partners with a variety of customers across Amazon worldwide to conceive, develop, prototype and deploy a wide range of robotic systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to design, build, and operate innovative products and services that delight our customers.
  • Research emerging sensor technologies and evaluate potential applications in Amazon fulfillment network.
  • Collaborate with hardware teams, operations teams and third party suppliers to develop new sensors.
  • Develop embedded systems to enable Artificial Intelligence (AI) on Edge Computing.
  • Build sensor development and evaluation infrastructure, such as data processing and visualization tools.
  • Advise internal teams on sensor stack design and integration.
  • Support product release to manufacturing and customer deployment.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical documentation.
  • Demonstrate operational excellence through monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving production issues.

Basic Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or majors relating to these fields.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Experience with at least one general-purpose programming language such as Java, Python, C++, C#, Go, Rust, or TypeScript.
  • Experience with data structure implementation, basic algorithm development, and/or object-oriented design principles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience from previous technical internship(s) or demonstrated project experience.
  • Experience communicating technical details verbally and in writing.
  • Experience working with Git or an equivalent distributed version control system.
  • Experience programming in C++/C/Python.
  • Experience working with sensors, including but not limited to 2d and stereo cameras, Time-of-Flight sensors, Radar, and Lidar.
  • Experience working with embedded communications protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART and CAN-bus.
  • Experience with sensor processing and applications, including but not limited to sensor fusion, computer vision, Machine Learning (ML), AI, Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM), ROS.
  • Familiar with networking, TCP/IP.
  • Familiar with electronic schematics and test equipment (such as signal analyzers, oscilloscopes etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly.
