Job Description: Pay Rate: $20 USD hourly Campus ambassadors greet, assist, and offer guidance to ASU customers as they move across campus. Employees in this role provide a reliable, highly-visible, service and safety-oriented presence to staff, students, visitors and faculty. We are seeking qualified applicants to fill afternoon positions. This is an outdoor, twelve-month position. Essential Duties: Greet and acknowledge students, staff, visitors, and faculty with a friendly warm greeting, introducing yourself, and presenting a professional image in appearance and in your communication. Utilizes effective communication to convey help and conveys a sense of approachability. Ensures highest quality service delivered to customers for assigned function in accordance with specified guidelines and priorities. Applies knowledge of policies and processes to educate and inform users. Monitors and enforces unauthorized wheels in the Walk Only Zone (WOZ). Educate violators where possible in a positive, non-combative manner. Interact with the public in situations that can range from answering routine university-related questions to addressing situations with irate customers. Offer assistance to students, faculty, staff with questions, and direct them to helpful links. Promote pedestrian safety. Perform routine checks of surrounding buildings near each delta during slower periods (non-class changes). Be flexible during daily activities with the ability to change priorities which may include and/or subject to resolution conflict with customers. Monitor activity around assigned station in the Zone. Encourage compliance and behavior change by giving verbal warnings. Deploy and collect WOZ signage. Help keep emergency access ways clear. Observe, report to any damaged ASU property such as bollards, signs, graffiti, etc. Minor cleaning and equipment maintenance of WOZ signs and graphics. Daily use of a computer for attendance and time keeping. Communicate verbally and in writing. Staff special events and perform other duties as directed by the Program Manager. Drives Arizona State University leased, owned or rented vehicles and carts to various ASU locations to perform work. Desired Qualifications: Experience in dealing with the public courteously, tactfully, and fairly Demonstrated knowledge of conflict resolution Experience in carrying out verbal and written instructions Experience in preparing clear, concise written and verbal reports Experience in maintaining accurate records Experience in a customer service role Working Environment: Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
