The School of Dentistry, Department of Endodontics, seeks a Dental Assistant 2 to join their team. The department is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion and emphasizes teamwork to ensure the best patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, perform expanded dental assistant duties including chairside assisting with endodontic procedures; instruct graduate and predoctoral students in expanded dental assistant duties, instrument exchanges, and related clinical activities.
  • Order and inventory control, assist with patient check-in when needed, coordinate clerical activities, and support patient care in the clinic.
  • Before Appointment (AM/PM) tasks: Set up clinical units and sterilize endodontic instruments; maintain endodontic specialty equipment; set up an overflow unit as needed.
  • During Appointment: Greet and seat patients, adjust chair, prepare patient for dentist; chairside assisting with endodontic procedures (root canal treatments, retreatments, apicoectomy, intracoronal bleaching); check with residents to ensure necessary materials; supervise/lead Dental Assistant 1 and other support staff; instruct patients in home care; take digital radiographs; operate water, air, and evacuating equipment; prepare and mix temporary materials; deliver and set up nitrous oxide and oxygen.
  • Lead four-handed instrument exchanges and ensure residents have materials for procedures.
  • After Appointment (AM/PM) tasks: Clean and maintain dental chairs and equipment; maintain endodontic instruments and handpieces; set up units.
  • Other duties: Assist with inventory of clinical supplies and restocking; water shocking and testing; may perform all duties of a Dental Assistant 1; perform related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited dental assisting training program; AND current certification as a dental assistant (CDA) OR the ability to obtain within six months; PLUS two years of experience as a dental assistant. One year of additional dental assistant experience may substitute for required education.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Licensing and Other Requirements

  • Registration with the State of Washington as a Dental Assistant.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Pay Range Minimum: $44,172.00 annual
  • Pay Range Maximum: $59,484.00 annual
