Job Description

South Texas Periodontal Associates, a privately owned periodontal office, is seeking an energetic, reliable, hardworking, positive, outgoing, and experienced full-time Surgical Dental Assistant. Candidates must be registered with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE) and BLS certified. You will play a vital role in keeping our office running smoothly while providing quality patient care. Must be a team player and able to multitask. Experience with Dentrix Ascend and surgical procedures is preferred.

Education/Certification:

• Texas Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Hours of Operation:

• Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 7:30 am to 5:30 pm

Responsibilities:

• Assisting the doctor with chairside tasks related to dental surgery, including retraction, suctioning, isolation, airway protection, and patient monitoring
• Assisting with procedures under local anesthesia, nitrous sedation, and IV sedation, including setup, administration, and recording
• Passing dental instruments and implant parts
• Providing pre- and post-operative care and instructions
• Preparing materials for impressions and taking dental x-rays
• Sterilizing and disinfecting instruments and equipment
• Assisting in obtaining medical clearances
• Following all infection control guidelines
• Performing office duties such as scheduling, supplies, and records management
• Additional duties as required by state regulations or licensing

Qualifications:

• Experience as a Surgical Assistant
• Self-motivated with a focus on high-quality patient care
• Passion for patient care and alignment with our core values
• Valid certifications complying with state laws
