Job Summary and Qualifications

Perform phlebotomy procedures to obtain specimens for laboratory testing. Transport, process, and perform clerical duties as necessary for testing on patient samples. Reports to: Lead Phlebotomist, Lab Manager, and Laboratory Director.

What You Will Do in This Role

• Greet patients and instruct them in proper specimen collection methods.
• Draw blood specimens from patients by using finger sticks, heel sticks, or venipunctures and collect other specimens as required.
• Label specimens for identification purposes accurately and enter specimen data into the computer.
• Prepare samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank, and urinalysis departments.
• Assist with clerical duties by answering telephone calls.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience required or Certification through a clinical phlebotomy program may be considered in lieu of experience.
• Acute care hospital experience is strongly preferred.
• Skilled phlebotomy technique; BLS within 30 days of hire.

Medical City Fort Worth is a 350+ bed full-service Magnet Designated hospital. It is located in the heart of the medical district. Medical City Fort Worth serves as a tertiary referral center for Tarrant County and many counties within a 90-mile radius. We offer comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services.
