Description

Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Phlebotomist to join our team!

Job Summary

Order, collect, process routine and specialty testing, and return results to doctors. Obtain, process doctors' orders, and perform data entry. Provide good customer service to patients, doctors, and medical staff. Work well under pressure. Collect blood samples ensuring proper patient identification and labeling. Follow hospital policies for transporting and delivering samples to the laboratory. Perform CLIA-waived moderate testing.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Proficiency in collecting blood and body fluids, ensuring proper identification and labeling.
  • Follow hospital policies for transporting samples.
  • Handle laboratory supplies and maintain stock.
  • Ensure quality clinical care and excellent customer service.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures.
  • Provide age-appropriate care.
  • Report and monitor patient and staff incidents.
  • Manage patient and physician satisfaction.
  • Use PPE and perform sterile techniques as required.
  • Maintain professional relationships with organizations and staff.
  • Maintain quality control and organize requisitions.
  • Maintain records, scan orders, and communicate lab results.
  • Mentor new staff and perform miscellaneous tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education/Certification: High School Diploma, BLS Certification, valid driver’s license.
  • Experience: Phlebotomy course or experience.
  • Equipment/Technology: Computer and office equipment proficiency.
  • Language: Effective English communication skills; bilingual a plus; understanding of medical terminology.
  • Math Skills: Basic math proficiency.
  • Mental Capabilities: Sound judgment, organization, multi-tasking, critical thinking.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Good communication, teamwork, flexibility.
  • Performance: Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, provide good customer service, and understand lab testing complexity.
