Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
- Collects blood specimens using proper patient identification procedures and appropriate collection techniques (venipuncture, fingerstick, heel stick).
- Ensures specimen integrity by following correct handling, labeling, and documentation protocols in accordance with laboratory standards.
- Performs routine and special procedures, including glucose tolerance testing and blood culture collections, accurately and efficiently.
- Maintains accurate records by entering and verifying orders and specimen information in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and documenting uncollected samples as required.
- Adheres to infection control and safety protocols, including proper hand hygiene and standard precautions.
- Provides excellent patient care and communication, explaining procedures and ensuring a positive experience for patients of all ages
What You’ll Bring
Required
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Minimum of six (6) months of phlebotomy experience in a hospital or clinical setting preferred.
- Successful completion of a phlebotomy course from an accredited school of health-related professions required.
- Certification by ASCP, NCA, or an equivalent agency preferred; candidates eligible to sit for the certification exam must obtain certification within six (6) months of hire.

The expected salary range for this position is [$ 21.88 - $23.06] per year, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
