Summary: Our Electronics Testers II are responsible for supporting testing, troubleshooting, and repairing locomotive electronic devices. This role involves inspecting, identifying failures, and replacing non-conforming parts in electronic devices.
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 5:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (variations communicated upon hire)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform functional tests on electronic products during assembly.
- Conduct basic repairs on electronic boards and harnesses using soldering techniques.
- Reload software and prepare devices for testing following procedures.
- Operate test equipment and tools used in electronics troubleshooting.
- Assist in diagnosing low to medium complexity issues at the board level.
- Interpret technical drawings and test procedures.
- Inspect products for quality, labeling, and component placement.
- Locate and utilize relevant documentation for tasks.
- Complete daily work orders based on supervisor and line lead productivity targets.
- Adapt to changing priorities based on customer demands.
- Work with IPC 610 standards, recent IPC training, and ESD protocols.
- Follow SOPs and JSAs to ensure safety.
- Repair and replace electronic components per engineering instructions, including soldering.
- Maintain test equipment calibration.
- Support cross-training and team collaboration.
- Follow safety and PPE protocols.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following 5S principles.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in electronic technology, military certification, or equivalent experience.
- At least 1 year of experience in electronic testing, troubleshooting, or assembly.
- Familiarity with test equipment like oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators.
- Ability to read and analyze schematic diagrams.
- Experience with stand-alone electronic board testing.
- Basic soldering skills and proficiency with hand tools.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience with testing electronics and knowledge of IPC 610 and ESD protocols.
- Background in electronics manufacturing or remanufacturing; military electronics experience is equivalent.
- Familiarity with testing software like HyperTerminal, Pro-comm, or Tera Term.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to feedback.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to talk, hear, and perform fine motor tasks.
- Lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Visual acuity to distinguish small components.
- On-site presence required during scheduled shifts.
Work Environment:
Temperature-controlled production environment with exposure to testing equipment and other environmental factors.
