Job Summary
An Entry Level Engineer is needed for an American multinational healthcare company that primarily focuses on products to treat kidney disease and other chronic and acute medical conditions, in the Round Lake, IL area. This position requires a BS degree (AA degree preferred) and a minimum of 6 years of testing, lab, or related experience to perform, set up, and document electrical, mechanical, and environmental testing on electromechanical medical devices, utilizing hands-on instrumentation, data acquisition, and the ability to interpret engineering schematics and mechanical gauging.

Responsibilities
- Primary responsibility is for the electrical, mechanical, and environmental testing and evaluation of new and existing electromechanical medical devices.
- Handle test stands, set-up, perform, and monitor testing activities.
- Test products in the Reliability Test Lab according to requirements specified by Product and Reliability Engineering.
- Take direction from management and engineers on safe working procedures, equipment use, data recording, and result monitoring.
- Perform all directed tests, provide accurate and timely documented results, and communicate results to engineering personnel.
- Perform specified tests of competitive products.
- Participate in product failure analysis collaboratively with project engineers.
- Suggest product design improvements based on observation and test results.
- Set up a variety of electrical, mechanical, and/or electronic equipment (environmental chambers, Life Test equipment, Product Specific test equipment, Mechanical gauges, and Electrical/Electronic meters).
Skills
- Understanding of electromechanical systems and ability to recognize mechanical, electrical, or system abnormalities.
- Hands-on instrumentation and data acquisition experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Working knowledge of mechanical gauging and instruments (micrometers, calipers, force gages, dial indicators, hardness testers).
- Experience testing to verify compliance with environmental requirements (shock, vibration, thermal, humidity, electromagnetic, etc.) is a plus.
- Knowledge of PLC, Ladder Logic, and Micro-controllers is a plus.
- Basic computer skills.
Education And Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent required, AA Degree is strongly preferred.
- Technical knowledge must be based on at least 6 years of testing, lab or related experience.
- 1-2 years of mechanical or electrical experience is strongly preferred.
