Summary
Bering Straits Professional Services, a company within the BSNC family, is currently seeking a qualified Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Naval Special Warfare Orientation Training Program in Coronado, CA. This position assists in developing, implementing, and monitoring comprehensive physical training programs designed to prepare students for the rigors of the Naval Special Warfare assessment and training pipelines
.
Wage/Salary Range
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide instruction and coaching to candidates who are in the Naval Special Warfare Orientation courses of instruction.
- Shall have daily contact with junior sailors. As such, one must adhere to the highest standards of conduct in their interaction with these sailors; and understand the candidate/coach relationship, the duties of the Physical Training Coaches, and provide the experienced, professional, administrative, and technical support required to achieve the desired degree of candidate preparation to accomplish program goals.
- Perform physical testing IAW with established guidelines set forth in OPNAVINST 6110.1 Physical Readiness Program
- Qualify within BTC NSWO specific CUIT and ELI requirements.
- Adhere to all NSW Policy, Instruction and guidance which pertain to evolution guidelines in the conduct of various training evolutions.
- Perform administrative functions of the assigned NSWO phase including
- Access Personal Identification Information and potentially Personal Health Information subject to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPPA) requirements and safeguard it accordingly.
- Track student performance as they progress through the NSWO training pipeline.
- Record student performance, testing and other course metrics within the NSW Individual Training and Readiness Management (ITRMS) database.
- Coordinate with NSWO leadership in order to identify trends to improve individual student or class performance

Wage/Salary Range: $68,000-$90,000/annually
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Health and Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related physical training field.
- Four (4) years of recent (within the last 6 years) equivalent experience working as a coach or physical fitness leader in an equivalent field and environment.
- Valid and current Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certificate, as recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
- Completion and qualification through Specialty Vehicle Institute of America (SVIA) ATV rider course prior to employment
- Meet minimum PST standards within 30 calendar days from date of physical check in to NSWCEN/NSWBTC IAW current MILPERSMAN 1220-410 at SWCC candidate standards. Physical Training Coaches shall maintain a sufficient fitness level to pass these same standards on a yearly basis.
- Successfully complete within 30 days of hire, the NSW High-Risk Instructor Training Course, in accordance with NSWCEN policy and/or NSWBTC policy.
- Following HRITC, qualify as a High-Risk Safety and Training Instructor.
- Possess a valid and current CPR and AED American Red Cross Certification
- U.S. citizen
- Valid US driver’s license
- Must be able to obtain SECRET clearance
- Must be task oriented, self-motivated and can multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and work as team member.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to interact with leadership
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide directions.
- Previous experience related to the essential duties and responsibilities outlined for this position.
- Familiarity with Tactical Strength & Conditioning (TSAC)

- Shall be required to perform physical testing in accordance with established guidelines set forth in OPNAVINST Physical Readiness Program.
- Physical Training Coaches are required to meet minimum PST standards and maintain a sufficient fitness level to pass on a yearly basis.
- This position requires the ability to maneuver around and see, hear, and verbally communicate with co-workers and contractors. Visual acuity to review written documentation and ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels.
- This position does perform DOT “safety-sensitive” functions (as defined under 49 CFR Part 40) and is subject to all federal requirements related to Department of Transportation requirements for those performing, or on-call to perform, “safety-sensitive” functions. Employees must provide a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC).
Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This position requires working indoors, outdoors and in a pool. Must be able to maintain health in hot and cold conditions with exposure to the elements.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- No supervisory responsibilities.
As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
