REPORTS TO: Adult Education Coordinator

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a year-round, part-time position, up to 2.5 hours per week. The classes are conducted from 8:00-8:45 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The hourly rate for new teachers is $35 per hour.

JOB SUMMARY: The Strength & Bone Health Instructor will lead evidence-based fitness and education programs focused on reducing or reversing the effects of osteoporosis in older adults. The instructor will design and lead small-group classes and instruct participants in proper strength training techniques to improve bone density, posture, and balance. Monitoring participant progress and providing individualized guidance within a group setting will also be a core component of the position.

Qualifications

  • Certification in fitness instruction (e.g., ACE, ACSM, NASM, or similar) is preferred
  • Specialized training or experience working with older adults and/or clients with osteoporosis.
  • Knowledge of osteoporosis, fall prevention, and strength training best practices.
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to converse with members of the public pleasantly and effectively.
