Job Description
Central New York Psychiatric Center is currently recruiting for a Rehabilitation Counselor 2 to provide rehabilitative services to individuals with mental illness.
- Assessing individuals’ rehabilitative needs and coordinating necessary psychosocial, educational, and/or vocational services.
- Monitoring and documenting progress toward established goals and objectives.
- Determining what changes have occurred as a result of treatment plan.
- Assuring compliance with recordkeeping requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program as Rehabilitation Counselor 2 if they have:
- Bachelor’s degree in a human service field and
- 3 years of professional experience providing vocational, psychosocial, or rehabilitative/habilitative services in an agency primarily serving individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities, mental illness, or addictions.
- Substitution: Master’s degree in a related field can substitute for one year of specialized experience.
OR
- Candidates from outside and within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on the current Rehabilitation Counselor 2 eligible list.
- Candidates from within State Service can be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
