Scope

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating various heavy machinery on construction sites. This role requires proficiency in handling earthmoving and lifting equipment, adherence to strict safety protocols, and the ability to operate in hazardous or high-traffic environments.

Duties

  • Operate heavy equipment, including but not limited to bulldozers, excavators, loaders, backhoes, and graders.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks to ensure equipment is in good working order.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Use equipment to move earth, materials, and other heavy objects.
  • Perform site preparation tasks, including clearing debris, leveling terrain, and ensuring stable ground conditions.
  • Safely maneuver equipment in confined spaces, hazardous terrain, and areas with restricted visibility.
  • Work in coordination with spotters, laborers, and other crew members to ensure efficient and safe machine operation.
  • Communicate with other workers to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment, such as changing oil and checking fluids.
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions for immediate repair to minimize downtime.
  • Keep accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment on industrial construction sites.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operation, maintenance, and safety procedures.
  • Proficient in the use of heavy equipment and related tools and equipment.
  • Experience working in high-risk areas, including working near active traffic, utility lines, and hazardous materials.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing site conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
