Overview

Job Description: Saiia Construction Company LLC, a MasTec company, is currently hiring for Heavy Equipment Operators – Dozer, Excavator and GPS Dozer in Rome, GA. The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, graders, dump trucks, front-end loaders, compactors, scrapers, and water trucks to move materials to and from designated areas, participate in required training, and ensure all established safety rules, procedures, policies, OSHA and MSHA regulations are followed.

Responsibilities

  • Excavator Operation: Operates excavator to dig holes and trenches, remove and transport earth, gravel, soil, ore, rock, and other materials to stockpiles or transport trucks. Starts engine and uses hydraulic controls. May need to utilize GPS grade technology.
  • Bulldozer – Grader Operator: Operates bulldozer or grader to gouge, level, and distribute soil, sand, ore, rock, gravel, and other materials. Controls blade and attachments, and may use GPS grade technology.
  • Rock / Articulated / Dump / Roll Off Truck Driver: Operates truck with dump bed to transport and dump materials; controls dumping and vehicle movement on road or off-road projects.
  • Scraper / Tractor Operator: Operates scraper to move, haul, and grade earth; controls loading gate, depth of cut, and material distribution; connects attachments and powers equipment as needed.
  • Water Truck Driver: Transports water for construction projects, inspects and services the water truck, and supports dust control on job sites.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of EPA, OSHA, MSHA and related state and federal regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to use email, smartphone, tablet, or computer to manage company information and documents.
  • Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence.
  • Must be able to maintain acceptable attendance standards per employee handbook.
  • Approach and complete work in a meticulous, thorough, and timely manner.

  • Hearing Abilities: Ability to hear equipment signals, horns, alarms, radio, and phone communications
