We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Equipment Operator to support dredging operations in marine, riverine, and coastal environments. The Equipment Operator will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment—including excavators, dozers, loaders, and dredging support machinery—while ensuring efficient, precise, and safe operation under challenging conditions. This role is critical to the success of dredging, material movement, and shoreline stabilization projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, front-end loaders, bulldozers, and support equipment on land and barge-based platforms
  • Assist in setup and positioning of dredging equipment and pipelines
  • Perform daily equipment inspections, maintenance checks, and report any mechanical issues or safety hazards
  • Load and unload materials, including dredged materials, rocks, and sand, ensuring proper placement and weight distribution
  • Follow all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company procedures while on site or on water
  • Communicate with dredge operators, crane operators, and other crew members to coordinate operations
  • Assist with anchoring spuds, pipe placement, and movement of floating equipment as needed
  • Support general site duties such as grading, cleanup, fueling, and minor equipment repairs
  • Maintain clear documentation of work performed and inspection logs
  • Work in various weather and marine conditions, often in remote or offshore locations

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certifications in heavy equipment operation preferred
  • 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in construction, marine, or dredging environments
  • Experience working on or around water, barges, or floating platforms is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of safe equipment operation, lifting procedures, and hazard identification
  • Familiarity with dredging operations, pipe placement, and material handling processes preferred
  • Ability to read site plans, grade stakes, or follow GPS/laser grading equipment
  • Physically fit and able to lift 50+ lbs, work in confined spaces, and perform manual labor as needed
  • Willingness to travel and work extended hours or rotating shifts, including nights and weekends
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL or equipment certifications (NCCCO, OSHA 10/30) a plus
  • Must be able to pass a drug test and comply with all safety/environmental regulations
