Overview

The Human Resources Generalist will support the HRBP and the business by acting as a liaison between operations staff and management in the areas of HR. They will help administer HR programs, practices and procedures for all levels of employees and provide feedback from the areas supported on HR programs. The Generalist will support daily HR functions including hiring and interviewing staff, administering benefits, leaves of absence, ADP administration and report creation, and enforcing company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including compensation, benefits, leave, disciplinary matters, disputes, recognition, morale, occupational health and safety, and training and development.
  • Conduct or support background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Manage and implement new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Respond to employee relations issues and conduct thorough investigations.
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors; refer complex or sensitive matters to appropriate staff.
  • Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintain current and complete personnel files.
  • Assist in recruiting for open positions and coordinate interviews with hiring managers; collaborate with supervisors to understand required skills and competencies.
  • Coordinate with the HR Director, HRBP and Training Manager to create, train, and track training for personnel.
  • Enter data into the HRIS, prepare reports, and maintain accurate records; verify transactions per workflow guidelines.
  • Assist with department audits to ensure regulatory compliance (federal and state), including FMLA, ADA, EEOC.
  • Coordinate wellness programs and company events.
  • Attend client department meetings to provide HR updates and receive operational updates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of multiple HR disciplines including employee relations, diversity, performance management, compensation, and employment laws.
  • Thorough investigative skills and ability to recommend actions per policy; experience with progressive discipline.
  • Effective collaboration and relationship-building skills internally and externally.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Change management and process improvement skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with ADP.
  • Attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving abilities; strategic thinker.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, address policy interpretations, and counsel staff.
  • Ability to identify problems, determine root causes, and drive solutions.
  • Discretion with confidential information and unbiased judgment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, growth environment; flexibility with hours as needed (including second and third shifts).

Credentials and Experience

  • 3+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a high-volume manufacturing setting.
  • Associate Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field preferred.
  • HR certifications (SHRM, etc.) preferred.

Work Environment

The role operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit for extended periods (8 hours or more) with occasional standing/walking.
  • Ability to access and navigate all areas of the facility.

Transportation

  • Must have a reliable vehicle and a valid Nebraska driver’s license.

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to interact professionally at all levels.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.

Work Schedule

Full-time, primarily Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Flexibility for occasional evening, night shifts (5:00 PM – 6:00 AM) and weekend on-site needs may be required.
