Position Summary

Position Summary

Janitors are responsible for performing all-purpose cleaning and preservation of an assigned area. The assigned area could be a building, hospital, warehouse, shopping mall or other facility. Exact tasks are flexible and may be assigned by a Supervisor.

Essential Functions

• Empty and clean all waste containers
• Stock restrooms with paper supplies and hand soap
• Handle emergency cleanups such as bodily fluids and waste
• Remove waste paper, garbage and recycling from the premises to the designated area; damp wipe containers
• Empty and clean all ashtrays; monitor sand urns and restore sand as required
• Dust all image frames, charts, graphs and wall hangings from high to low heights
• Damp wipe air conditioning ducts, partition grilles, registers and other ventilating units
• Dust the outside surfaces of light fixtures, glass and plastic enclosures
• Vacuum all mats and carpeted areas in workplace, lobbies and corridors
• Dust and clean office furnishings, files, fixtures, paneling, window sills and other flat surfaces
• Keep utility rooms in a clean, tidy condition
• Wipe, clean, buff and polish metal hardware fixtures
• Clean tile floor surfaces as required
• Follow all safety and workplace rules and regulations
• Clean glass furnishings and dust to eliminate fingerprints and smudges
• Clean entry door glass indoors and on the outer surface
• Brush or dust mop restroom and common area floors; clean exterior entry areas as needed
• Remove stains from vertical surfaces such as doors, frames, light switches and glass
• Wash, clean, and disinfect water coolers/refrigerators
• Keep stairways clean and vacuum if carpeted; monitor for spills and clean as necessary
• Disinfect all touch points and areas as required

• Good verbal communication skills
• Able to work well with all levels of employees and managers
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area
• Ability to perform the job with minimal supervision
• Regular and timely attendance

Qualifications

• High School Education or equivalent
• Previous experience in a similar capacity and environment
