Location: Bread Baking Company – Schaumburg, IL
Schedule: 3rd Shift | 10:00 PM – 7:30 AM (9–10 hour shifts)
Status: Temp-to-Hire | Full-Time

Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance on production machinery and facility equipment. This is a hands-on, 3rd shift role requiring mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on bakery production equipment, conveyors, mixers, ovens, packaging machines, and facility systems.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
  • Perform equipment adjustments, part replacements, and upgrades as needed.
  • Follow safety, food safety, and sanitation protocols in compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, records, and work orders.
  • Collaborate with production staff and supervisors to ensure efficient operations.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Maintenance Technician 3 yr, Industrial Mechanic, or similar role (food manufacturing).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with mechanical, electrical, and PLC-driven equipment.
  • Ability to read schematics, technical manuals, and equipment drawings.
  • Welding, fabrication, and HVAC knowledge a plus.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, work in hot/cold environments, and stand/walk for extended periods.
  • Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Shift: 10:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3rd shift)
  • Hours: 9–10 hour shifts with overtime available
  • Days Off: 2 days during the week (example: Mon/Thu or Tue/Fri, based on availability)
  • Weekends: Required initially; flexibility may be available after tenure
