INEOS Olefins & Polymers USA is seeking an Environmental Engineer at the Chocolate Bayou Works in Alvin, TX. The position is responsible for waste and water regulatory compliance management at the CBW facility, managing and improving the overall site waste, drinking water, and wastewater compliance and permitting programs.

Job Summary

The role involves ensuring permit applications and environmental reporting are completed in a timely manner while accuracy is maintained. The position requires considerable interaction with the CBW Operations, Maintenance, and Utilities personnel, as well as liaison with State and Federal environmental regulatory agencies and intra-company environmental technical groups.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure permit applications and environmental reporting are completed in a timely manner while accuracy is maintained.
  • Manage and improve the overall site waste, drinking water, and wastewater compliance and permitting programs.
  • Provide regulatory guidance and enhance the environmental excellence culture at the site.
  • Interact with CBW Operations, Maintenance, and Utilities personnel.
  • Liaise with State and Federal environmental regulatory agencies and intra-company environmental technical groups.

Accountabilities

  • Champion the INEOS 20 Principles and apply them to all SHE goals and work processes.
  • Prepare permit applications and/or amend existing permits for improvements at the CBW facility as regulations require.
  • Conduct or provide oversight for all sampling, reporting, and recordkeeping requirements for site water permits.
  • Manage/oversee site waste contractor daily activities, ensuring proper management and disposal of all site waste.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in science or engineering/technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of in-plant experience.
  • Background in permitting, compliance, and reporting for water and/or waste related programs in petrochemical or refinery industry.
  • Strong initiative to solve problems and make timely and effective decisions.
  • Proficient use of computer applications and databases.
  • Strong technical written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Olefins and/or Polymers manufacturing experience is beneficial.
  • RCRA 24-hour training / 8-hour refresher training.
  • DOT Hazmat trained.
  • Class D water operator license.
