Instructor Pool - American Sign Language (ASL)

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in Sign Language Education, Deaf Education, Sign Language Teaching, Applied Linguistics, or related field.
  • ACTFL Superior proficiency in ASL.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess certification from the American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA) – Certified Level.
  • Experience teaching American Sign Language.
  • Experience teaching at a community college.
  • Experience in teaching and/or developing Hybrid, Hyflex, and/or Online courses.

Position Purpose:

Faculty are professional educators with the primary responsibility of providing a quality learning experience for all Lane Community College students.

Essential Functions:

  • Support student learning through activities that include: Exhibit compliance with College policies and procedures, accountability for leave time, timesheet completion, release time, textbook ordering and related functions.
  • Sustain currency in discipline and innovation in teaching.
  • Collegial participation in faculty performance evaluation process.
  • Maintain and post office hours in alignment with College expectations.
  • Provide high-quality classroom instruction.
  • Create course content, develop and revise course content and materials.
