Job Title: Production Assistant (wardrobe and props focused)

Location: Lewisville and Plano, TX

Job Type: Full-time

Overview

Amazing Life is seeking a resourceful and detail‑oriented Prop/Wardrobe Production Assistant to oversee the wardrobe and props for our in‑house productions. You’ll own the full life cycle of costumes and props—from sourcing and organizing to continuity, quick fixes, and transport—helping us achieve a seamless visual narrative across every scene. In this hands‑on, on‑site role, you’ll collaborate with writers, directors and producers to translate creative vision into tactile reality while keeping our studio humming. We’re looking for someone who thrives on problem‑solving, and has a keen eye for aesthetics and details. If you’re mission‑driven, organized and excited to wear many hats (literally), we’d love to hear from you.

This is an entry‑level position, based in Lewisville, TX, with expectation that when not on set you will work from our Plano office, reporting to the director of production.

What makes this job meaningful? At Amazing Life, we believe churches deserve better tools to engage kids and families—resources that are beautiful, intuitive and Gospel‑centered. As Wardrobe/Prop PA, your work behind the scenes will bring scripts to life, ensuring every scene feels authentic and polished. From the wardrobe rack to the prop table, you’ll help create environments that inspire imagination and make the story unforgettable. This isn’t just about ping pong balls, science experiment ingredients, and repairing a torn costume—this is the visual texture that draws children in to hear the Gospel.

Your Role

You’ll be an integral part of our production team from concept to wrap. One day you might be highlighting costume needs in a script and planning a teleprompter run‑down; the next you’ll be steaming garments before call time, tracking continuity between takes, or restocking our studio pantry. Success in this role requires creativity, organization and a willingness to jump in wherever needed to keep the production moving smoothly.

Responsibilities

  • Attend creative planning meetings; read scripts thoroughly, noting wardrobe, prop and set needs, collaborating with the design team, writers and directors to realize their vision.
  • Adhere to budgets for productions and provide cost reports to Film Producer.
  • Create and maintain prop & costume inventories/spreadsheets.
  • Consult on scheduling and logistics for filming days; attend pre‑production meetings; finalize creative elements (props, wardrobe and visual story cues).
  • Format scripts for the teleprompter and coordinate teleprompter operation during shoots.
  • Pull, organize, and prep costumes; tag, track, clean, steam/iron, repair and ensure continuity across scenes. Log usage and report damages or urgent needs promptly.
  • Manage wardrobe racks and storage; coordinate laundering and uphold costume readiness for multi‑day shoots.
  • Source, purchase or borrow props within budget; create DIY or fabricated props as needed; label, organize and prep items for each scene.
  • Clean, repair, return or dispose of props; track inventory, rentals and returns; align prop use with agreements and budgets.
  • Prep studio, props and wardrobe; on shoot days: slate scenes, cue talent and assist crew as needed.
  • Keep track of prop and costume continuity between takes; troubleshoot on‑set issues (missing items, quick fixes); step in as script supervisor, floor manager or set dresser when necessary.
  • Assist with full studio setup and set design: backdrops, furniture, set dressing and specialty setups (e.g., food scenes, messy scenes, special effects).
  • Oversee studio organization and cleanliness with the team; reset and restyle spaces between shoots; stock supplies, food and drinks for cast and crew.
  • Assist with crafty as needed for long shoots and/or on location filming.
  • Maintain safety protocols, confidentiality and a positive, team‑oriented attitude in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Assist in break down and clean up of sets; help reset studio for the next production.
  • Return props and costumes to storage or vendors; clean wardrobe items (steam, fold, organize); dispose of perishable props responsibly.
  • Follow up on missing returns or receipts; organize props and costumes for reuse.

Qualifications

  • Flexibility to adapt to evolving production needs and schedules.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills; keen attention to detail and continuity. Able to prioritize work across multiple productions, managing tasks with excellence.
  • Strong attention to detail and resourcefulness in problemsolving.
  • Positive, team‑oriented attitude and willingness to help.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; comfortable working with creative and production teams.
  • Proficient in Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive.
  • Ability to lift and move wardrobe racks and prop bins.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in wardrobe, props, theatre, film production or a related field.
  • Knowledge of costume care and garment construction; familiarity with prop sourcing and inventory management.
  • Experience in sewing, steaming, ironing and basic repairs on wardrobe and props.
  • Entry level experience, building, and finishing props.
  • Familiarity with set safety protocols and on‑set etiquette.
