Overview

The Salvation Army\'s Adult Rehabilitation Centers seek a Production Assistant (Truck Driver) to complete driving routes for pickup and/or drop off of donations at the warehouse, assigned donation boxes, and donor homes.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the security and safe operation of the vehicle and other assigned equipment. Promptly report any accidents or injuries to the supervisor and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Perform daily walk-around inspection of the vehicle (air, water, oil, and other items) to maintain equipment in good operating condition; report problems immediately.
  • Keep truck cab and box clean and remove personal items daily.
  • Plan daily routing based on pickups and calls scheduled, including boxes.
  • Develop assigned routes, including bagging or carding on both sides and across the street of each pickup, as instructed.
  • Represent The Salvation Army in a professional manner; treat customers courteously and follow the Manual for Production Assistants; report pickup problems to the dispatcher.
  • Maintain a professional appearance in compliance with the dress code; keep complete and accurate records (delivery manifests, trip logs, Green Sheet, etc.).
  • Load and unload truck and secure goods during transit; use blankets, ropes, and other methods to prevent damage; assist Thrift Store personnel with proper placement and cleanup as needed.
  • Instruct and supervise the Truck Helper; model professional conduct and work habits as part of the work therapy program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or Administrator.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Must have a valid driver\'s license for assigned vehicles and an acceptable DMV record; must pass a driving test.
  • Must be able to lift 100 lbs and read maps to plan daily route coverage.
  • Must be able to use an iPad with GPS, texting, and truck inspection reporting.
  • Must have excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Medical card may be required depending on city/state; passing a DOT Physical is required.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver\'s license and acceptable DMV record; ability to pass a driving test.
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs.
  • Ability to read maps and plan routes; comfortable using GPS devices and tablets.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Medical card as required by city/state; DOT Physical clearance.
