POSITION SUMMARY:
Serve as the Manufacturing Engineer responsible for developing, optimizing, and supporting coating processes that enhance product performance, extend implant life, and improve patient outcomes. You will serve as a key technical resource, collaborating with cross-functional teams in engineering, operations, and quality to implement coating solutions that align with industry standards and customer requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (essential functions of position) :

- Serve as the technical expert for DLC coating processes, equipment, and materials.
- Develop, validate, and optimize manufacturing processes to ensure repeatability, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
- Lead process troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions for coating-related issues.
- Collaborate with design engineering on new product development and scale-up of coating technologies.
- Create and maintain work instructions, control plans, PFMEAs, and validation protocols for coating operations.
- Train and mentor technicians and operators on coating systems, maintenance, and best practices.
- Partner with Quality to maintain compliance with ISO 13485, FDA, and customer specifications.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in coating equipment, tooling, and process flow.
- Manage coating projects from concept to implementation, ensuring cost, delivery, and performance targets are met.
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience in DLC or thin-film coating Technologies within medical device, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of vacuum deposition systems, surface engineering, and thin-film characterization techniques.
- Proficiency with CAD Tools (Solidworks) and statistical software for process development.
- Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills.
NONESSENTIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS (not necessary but preferred):
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field.
- Familiarity with APQP, PFMEA, SPC, and DOE methodologies.
- Knowledge of ISO 13485, ISO 9001, and FDA/medical device regulations strongly preferred.
