What To Expect
Tesla is looking to hire a Manufacturing Engineer to contribute to the development and launch of manufacturing equipment for our cutting-edge battery products. In this role, you will take large-scale manufacturing systems for new battery products and architectures from the early concept development stage through equipment launch, optimization, and handover to local operations teams. Battery development is at the heart of our company, and this is an exciting opportunity to work directly on the central challenges with electric vehicles – battery architecture innovation and the manufacturing technologies associated with it. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on challenging projects.
What You'll Do
- Ideate concepts for equipment and manufacturing systems
- Develop specifications and manage RFQ process
- Lead and manage vendors and coordinate project scope cross-functionally with production, design, and quality teams
- Validate and optimize processes from prototypes to full-volume production
- Transition products from low-volume prototypes to large-scale manufacturing
- Function as lead manufacturing engineer or project manager on new automated manufacturing equipment
- Travel domestically and internationally as needed
What You'll Bring
- 3+ years of engineering or relevant experience
- Experience developing and implementing manufacturing processes and equipment in high-volume production
- Experience deploying, qualifying, and validating new processes in automated environments
- Proficiency in GD&T and experimental design
- Experience with large, automated manufacturing lines
- Knowledge of industrial engineering concepts such as line balancing and OEE
- Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Physics, Materials, or equivalent experience
