Purpose of the Job:

The position of Manufacturing Engineer exists to provide a technical liaison between Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality Assurance. The role involves coordinating and implementing activities across all functional areas to develop new, improved, or more efficient technologies, processes, and product designs.

Overview & Responsibilities

The incumbent will assist in preparing for new manufacturing technology and complex technical systems, supporting capital projects, and ensuring manufacturability within ISO quality standards. The role also involves monitoring productivity and analyzing machining operations for improvements.

Primary Job Functions:

  • Serve as a technical liaison between Manufacturing and Engineering, issuing instructions on new manufacturing methods.
  • Review designs for manufacturability, quality, and cost efficiency.
  • Participate in cost reduction activities.
  • Recommend process changes to reduce lead time and costs.
  • Support product design with manufacturing inputs.
  • Analyze complex bill of material structures.
  • Translate engineering instructions into manufacturing operations.
  • Develop and manage routings for components and assemblies.
  • Collaborate with CAD/CAM technicians on routing and tooling.
  • Understand CNC programming basics and tooling specifications.
  • Assist in tooling requests and lean machining practices.
  • Support machining of new items and tooling setups.
  • Lead capital project deployment, including machinery needs and installation guidance.
  • Review scrap and rework data to eliminate root causes.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement Programs and train personnel.
  • Travel as needed for vendor and process reviews.

Contact with Others:

  • Interact with personnel across departments including Operators, Production Control, and Engineering.
  • Limited external contact with vendors and plants.

Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Technology, CNC Machining, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Training in Problem Solving and Decision Analysis.
  • Minimum 10 years in manufacturing and assembly with progressive responsibilities.
  • Experience with multi-axis/mill-turn machine tools preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of manufacturing processes, machining, assembly, and tool design.
  • Proficiency with CAD, CAM, and related systems; experience with non-traditional machining, welding, and inspection techniques.
  • Foundry or Babbitt experience is a plus.
