Overview


Valmont Industries, Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment. The Manufacturing Engineer will perform critical functions, including cost reductions, process analysis, cell work design, equipment research and acquisition, fixturing design, safety/ergonomics enhancement, packaging design, and implementation of ISO 9001 Quality System standards and methods. This position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager. Location: Colorado Springs, CO.



Responsibilities



  • Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and workflows to identify areas for improvement.

  • Perform hands-on tasks in manufacturing departments to understand processes and procedures.

  • Lead continuous improvement techniques including Kaizen events, 5S, and Root Cause Corrective Action.

  • Develop and apply lean manufacturing principles and single-piece flow to reduce waste and increase efficiency.

  • Create processes, procedures, and work instructions to help manufacturing departments meet quality, budgetary, and performance goals.

  • Lead equipment recommendation, acquisition, and implementation.

  • Read, comprehend, review, and utilize 2D and 3D blueprints and models.

  • Design and fabricate jigs, fixtures, and equipment using SolidWorks and shop tools.

  • Lead custom packaging design for new products.

  • Participate in product development reviews to improve manufacturability and operation.

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Line Management, Project Management, and Quality teams.

  • Assist in planning and implementing safety-related projects and procedures.

Required Qualifications


Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Welding, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering. Work experience may be substituted for educational requirements.



Highly Qualified


Preferred: 2 years of SolidWorks 3D Modeling.



Pay


$70,000 - $90,000 annually, depending on experience.
