Responsibilities
- Develop equipment specifications, performance requirements, cost analysis and proposals for integrating machinery and equipment into manufacturing processes.
- Transition assigned products from development into production and ensure manufacturing processes meet expectations for cycle times, quality levels, and costs.
- Develop manufacturing processes for new products and validate the processes by performing PILOT runs.
- Define and maintain end-of-line product testing and equipment. Establish product test setups to ensure accurate test results and solve issues related to product testing with effective solutions.
- Provide engineering assistance to production and manufacturing teams to solve process-related problems.
- Provide assembly support in technical matters relating to assembly drawings, interpretation, engineering change notices, and rework manufacturing processes.
- Contribute to new product teams to bring products to market on a timely basis while assuring quality and manufacturability of process and product.
- Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow; design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Develop, implement, and maintain routings and labor standards.
- Analyze and recommend product design changes including packaging design for ease of manufacturing, cost reduction, and quality improvement.
- Support development of required documentation such as Method Sheet and operator training, demonstrating process capability and transitioning products from development to production per required ISO standards.
- Design and implement the overall Lean program roadmap, driving Lean thinking and process improvement across the organization.
- Coordinate and lead Lean Manufacturing activities within the location, including kaizen events and projects, to improve lean efforts and support Lean Transformation plans.
- Perform cost/benefit analysis for new and improved processes or products and cost reduction projects.
- Estimate production times and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
Qualifications
- Must have the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite; ability to use Excel for cost analysis.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers to define product opportunities and key requirements.
- Ability to coordinate and facilitate discussions regarding design, development, and introduction of products to meet customer requirements.
- Ability to gather input from production personnel through team-based process improvements on the production floor.
- Ability to perform time studies or workflow analysis.
- Knowledge of fiber optics preferred.
- Software knowledge preferred: MS Team Foundation Server, MS .NET Framework, ASP.NET, C# programming, IIS, MS SQL Server, Windows Server, Windows 10.
- Experience with quality tools such as statistical process control and process failure modes effects analysis.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Industrial/Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering required.
- Minimum of 2 years related experience in Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
- Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma training preferred.
