SUMMARY The Manufacturing Engineer supports and improves production processes by applying engineering principles to design, implement, and refine manufacturing systems in an industrial environment.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods.
- Provide technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations which affect long-range plant and product engineering planning.
- Prepare product or system layouts and detailed drawings and schematics.
- Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform design-related tasks.
- Direct and coordinate the manufacture of new products, components, processes, and prototype designs.
- Compile and analyze operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified equipment or product.
- Analyze test data to determine if designs meet functional and performance specifications.
- Perform additional tasks as needed to support continuous improvement initiatives, cross-functional collaboration, and plant-wide efficiency goals.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD required.
- Familiarity with PLC programming, data analysis tools (e.g., Minitab or Excel PivotTables), and ERP systems preferred.
- Electrical curriculum with design experience in the power industry is preferred.
- 2–5 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing is highly preferred
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
- Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with a continuous improvement focus (Lean/Six Sigma exposure a plus).
- Ability to work independently and as part of cross-functional teams.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to engage with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Must be able to work harmoniously with other employees within the department and across the organization.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to the risk of electrical shock.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
NOTE FOR CANDIDATES This role is ideal for an early-career engineer with 2–5 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing or for a recent graduate with strong technical aptitude and an eagerness to grow within a high-performance engineering team.
